Local Martinique-born artist Elodie Rama navgates between soul, R&B and the visual arts with imagination as her constant guide. The first step on her musical journey took place in 2013 with Strange Island, pour and she continues today with Constellations, her latest album where light-as-air music sets off her suave vocals. The multi-talented duo OY (Swiss-Ghanean vocalist Joy Frempong and drummer Leleluja-Ha) bring avant-garde pop at the intersection of jazz, hip-hop, electro and masterful impro. Each of ther pieces is inspired, colourful, imaginative and brimming with intoxicating melodies. Hip-hop veterans and the media were quick to notice the stage performances of Yugen Blakrok, who has been active on the South African scene for over a decade. His incomparable flow and his lyrics written like magic spells really set him apart. With accomplished performers like these, music becomes a contemporary odyssey.
New on the scene, the “Hip-hop non-stop” Festival aims to end the summer in style by offering a a serries of professional and artistic events focusing on an essential aspect of the city’s cultural identity and lay the first stone of an ambitious support programme for the local scene.
